Pyrography is quite simply "burned graphics". That is to say, an image that has been transfered onto a surface with heat. This craft can be done with a variety of burning tools.
The first tools for pyrography were probably hot sticks pulled from an open flame. That technique can still be found today in certain countries. But other tools have become very sophisticated, using electricity and thermostatic controls, with a wide variety of specially shaped tips for achieving various effects.
